here are the reasons why i think the Mac OS is the best OS out there.
- the design: when you turn on your computer/laptop, your first impression is always the desktop. mac's desktop has a very sleek yet very laid back design. simple, yet at the same time you know that it's not carelessly made, while windows has a more reserved design, and i think it's starting to look more like mac recently (just look at the windows vista and windows 7)
- the programs: windows can boast about its vast range of programs that mac can't have (the .exe extensions) like games, apps, etc. but mac has a more sophisticated kind of programs. just compare the iWork and the Microsoft Office. iWork is more about integrating office work with simple yet classy design while Microsoft Office is more about the work itself. (while mostly i still prefer Word than Pages for doing simple school assignments). Another example? The iLife. Windows Movie Maker is definitely no competition for the iMovie for editing movies. I've been editing all my movies with iMovie (though i'm really disappointed that Apple chose to discontinue iMovie HD since i think it's better than the new iMovie), trimming songs using Garage Band, and making DVD menus using iDVD.
- hardware connections: just say you want to print a document. with a PC or an ordinary laptop, you have to install the printer software first, then connect the printer using usb to print the document. using a mac, you only need to plug in the usb connector to your mac, and it'll then identify your printer type so you can print the document instantly. i was a little astonished when i first figured this feature back when i got my first macbook.
- photo booth: most laptops now have built-in webcams, yes. but nothing beats macbook's webcam, especially with the photo booth app. the funny effects is definitely loved by photo freaks like me :)
- crashes: i'm not gonna say that my macbook doesn't crash. it does crash sometimes. sometimes when i try to close a program it'll display the 'not responding' message. using a windows, it often took like, years to get the 'end task' window to close the troubled program. using a mac, you only need to click the 'force quit' menu, then click 'force quit', and 9 out of 10 times the troubled program instantly closes.
- efficiency: sure, the windows has the 'search' option. but it takes forever to search for something using the search option. and sometimes you forgot where you saved a certain file, so you have to browse it manually, open folder by folder. but using a mac, you only need to type the word, and instantly finds the file that you're looking for. with the 'spotlight' option in a mac you can type: a word>>it'll automatically show you the meaning in the dictionary. a math formulla >> it'll automatically count and show you the result. a file name >> it'll find the file you're looking for. words/sentences inside a file (for example a text or document) >> it'll show you the files that contain those words/sentences.
- the ultimate reason: VIRUSES. i can proudly say that i didn't need ANY antivirus programs since i use mac. i can proudly say that i once installed an antivirus but i deleted it because i never use it and it's just wasting my hard disk. now this, this is the only thing that windows can't seem to beat to this day. with mac, you don't have to worry about plugging infected flash disk to your macbook because mac doesn't recognize windows virus.
